Second Adult Rebate is help with your Council Tax bill if you share your home with one or more adults (not including your partner) who are on low incomes.
Second Adult Rebate is part of Council Tax Support.
The person who lives with you must:
- be aged 18 or over
- not be your partner (a person you are married to, or a person you live with as if you are married to them)
- not pay you rent
- not need to pay Council Tax themselves
- have a low income
Second Adult Rebate is based on the circumstances of the person who shares your home. Your income and savings will not have an effect.
If you think you are eligible, make sure you apply straight away or you might lose out on benefit.
It's important to answer all the questions fully and provide as much information as you can.

We can only pay Second Adult Rebate from the Monday after we receive your application form.
Your Second Adult Rebate will be taken straight off your Council Tax bill. We will write to you with your new Council Tax bill.
If you get Second Adult Rebate (which is part of Council Tax Support), by law you need to tell us if your circumstances change.
