Our South Tyneside Conversation
Overview
We want local people to help us shape the future of the area.
Our South Tyneside Conversation asks:
- how you use our town centres and surrounding areas
- what brings you to the area
- what ideas you have to improve them
This feedback will help guide the growth and development of our town centres over the next 15 to 20 years.
We're currently asking for your thoughts on Hebburn Town Centre, the Riverside Park and surrounding area. Tell us your views at www.ourconversation.co.uk.Have your say: Hebburn
You told us supporting our town centres was important to you, so please get involved and have your say.
Our Hebburn Conversation follows a similar consultation in South Shields which provided lots of very useful feedback.
Further consultation and masterplanning will take place in Jarrow in the future.
Our Hebburn Conversation
In the last decade we have invested in lots of exciting projects in Hebburn.
Developments in recent years such as Hebburn Central have changed the look of the town centre.
We want to ensure the town continues to be a place that meets the needs of our residents and businesses.
Our Hebburn Conversation asks questions about what the future might look like for Hebburn Town Centre, Riverside Park and Hebburn surroundings.
We want to know what's important to you, so we can shape plans around the future people want to see.

Our South Shields Conversation
In Autumn 2022 we carried out an extensive six week consultation about South Shields Town Centre.
This involved an online survey and face to face drop-in sessions.
Consultation feedback
Almost 1300 people between the ages of 12 and 75 who live, work and play in South Tyneside took the opportunity to provide their thoughts.
Consistent themes emerged from the consultation, with residents asking for:
- better variety of shops
- a relocated college
- quality green spaces
- a refurbished Customs House
- investment in the Market Place
- a better food and drink offer
