About this publication

The South Tyneside Local Plan examination hearings will take place over two stages.

Stage one of the hearings will be held in July and will consider:

  • matters of legal compliance
  • the amount of development being planned for
  • the overarching strategy
  • the strategic approach to Green Belt and those proposed allocations for development that would require the Green Belt boundary to be altered

The documents below provide information from the inspector:

  • Inspector's Matters, Issues and Questions - This sets out the issues the inspector wishes to discuss at the hearings.
  • Guidance note - This has been prepared to assist individuals and organisations involved in the examination of the South Tyneside Local Plan. It provides details of the venue and relevant deadlines. The stage one hearing sessions will open on Tuesday 8 July 2025.
  • Draft hearings programme - A draft timetable of the stage one hearings.
