Jarrow Forward (Jarrow Neighbourhood Board)
Overview
Jarrow Forward is a community run Neighbourhood Board that has been formed as part of the government's Long Term Plan for Towns, to create opportunities for Jarrow residents and to represent the NE32 postcode area.
This includes:
- Kate Osborne, MP for Jarrow and Gateshead East
- South Shields FC
- Barbour
- Monkton Stadium
- the Viking Centre
- Jarrow Focus
- Jarrow Hall
- St Paul's Church
- Jarrow Hall

What the board is doing
Your Jarrow - have your say
From 5 March 2025, for 12 weeks, we are asking for your ideas on how to spend the government funding.

The board is responsible for:
- providing direction and guidance for delivery in Jarrow, including meeting with the community
- making sure processes and procedures are being monitored and keeping to a strong framework
- evaluating the success of the programme
- reviewing any changes to the plan or relevant projects
- making sure any projects work well with South Tyneside's vision, ambitions and strategy
- approving and signing off all project reports before submitting to the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)
- making sure the programme is meeting government requirements
Working with over 30 local businesses, community leaders, and partners, Jarrow Forward submitted its goals for the town to Government on 1 August 2024 and we are awaiting Government feedback.
We found that Jarrow residents are proud of their town but also identified some areas where things could be better, such as more opportunities for:
- young people
- work
- wellbeing
- leisure
Roles and membership
The first Chair and Vice Chair of the Board have been chosen by the Council and Jarrow's MP.
Roles and membership of Jarrow Forward will be reviewed every 3 years.
