The hugely popular South Tyneside Summer Parade returns on Saturday 5 July as part of a weekend of celebrations!
The theme of the parade this year is 'Environment and Sustainability'. We look forward to welcoming local community groups, schools and voluntary organisations in South Tyneside to be part of the celebrations.

The parade will begin at 1pm with fabulous local groups, performers and entertainers making their way to Bents Park where you can enjoy lots more entertainment all afternoon with compere Ray Spencer! Entertainment at Bents Park includes:
- Science education and entertainment by the Rock Showman
- Jurrassic puppetry
- Climb inside the belly of a giant whale
- Artist-made carousel powered by bike
- Cirque style acrobatics
- Bicycle-powered music stage
- Performances from Westoe Brass Band, Brendan Murphy's Drumming Group and The Caribiana Carnival Dancers
- Spark! drummers
- Walk-about entertainment
- Jimi Handtrix puppet show
- Craft station and fair
- Fairground rides
- Food village
- Face painting
So come along and experience what is always a great, family-friendly afternoon in South Shields!
Please note filming and photography will take place at the event by South Tyneside Council, partners and the media. This could be used to showcase this year's events in various media channels, or be used to promote future events.
The free entertainment will continue over the weekend with an afternoon of music and entertainment along Sandhaven Promenade on Sunday 6 July, from 12noon-3pm. Find out more about our Entertainment by the Sea Programme. We also have Proms in the Park taking place in Bents Parks on Sunday 6 July from 3-5pm featuring classical and contemporary music.
