Carer's Strategy 2022-27

The South Tyneside Carers Strategy 2022  -2027 was launched on 21 March 2022 - it has been co-produced with South Tyneside Council, NHS Clinical commissioning Group, our voluntary and community sectors and most importantly, local people who have caring responsibilities. It pledges our commitment to improve and develop support and services to better support unpaid carers.

The Strategy sets out priorities for the next five years, reaffirming the commitment and determination to help carers continue caring if they are willing and able, and to support their health and wellbeing by achieving outcomes they have identified that matter most to them.

Development of a 12-month delivery plan is now being coproduced via the South Tyneside Carers Strategy Group with carer representatives, the Council, NHS, and voluntary and community sector organisations. The plan will set out actions with clear outcomes for carers. We want and expect carers to hold us to account in relation to our stated priorities.

We will provide regular monitoring and update reports into the local Health and Wellbeing Board, which is the partnership in South Tyneside designed to lead and oversee our aim to help people live longer and healthier lives.

The Council's People Select Committee will receive monitoring reports on progress which will provide an opportunity for elected members and the public to scrutinise and challenge implementation of this strategy.
