Overview

To celebrate the Queen's Jubilee, South Tyneside Council is offering a free tree for all births registered in South Tyneside in June 2022.

Increasing tree coverage across the borough is hugely important in:

  • tackling climate change
  • keeping our air clean
  • protecting us from flooding
  • supporting our local wildlife

Trees will be provided / planted during the planting season between November 2022 and March 2023.

We will be in touch at the time to confirm details.

Parents of newborns

Parents of newborns are invited to register for a tree to plant in their gardens.

If you don't have space to plant a tree, we invite you to attend a tree-planting event where you can help to plant a tree on Council land.

If you are a parent to a new-born baby registered in South Tyneside in June 2022, you will have received a unique reference code in your information pack.

A tree in memory

Those who have suffered still births or baby deaths are invited to plant a tree in their memory.

You will have received a unique 'Tree in Memory' reference code in your information pack in June 2022.
