Overview
The Platinum Jubilee Community Fund is a new £30,000 Council fund to help with events and community projects to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
South Tyneside Council is working with Inspire South Tyneside to administer the funding.
The fund is open to established groups and organisations, including schools, care homes and housing plus/supported living accommodation, who are planning celebratory events in the 2 weeks surrounding the Jubilee Bank Holiday, from 30 May to 12 June 2022.
You can apply for funding to hold either an event or to fund a long term project.
Examples of longer term projects could include:
- Community artwork or memorials
- Community garden / planting
- Activities that engage disadvantaged groups over an extended period of time, for example Jubilee themed learning such as arts, crafts, gardening etc
You can apply for a maximum of £10 per head for an event or £500 for a community project which has a longer term impact.
Grants will be considered on a first come, first served basis, with successful applications confirmed within 28 days.
What the fund can help with
The funding can help with things such as:
- street entertainment, including performance fees
- one off hire costs, such as marquees, stage and PA hire
- hospitality
The fund cannot be used for:
- Entertainment licenses, road closures and traffic management
- Core organisational costs, such as staffing
- Religious or political activities
- Spend on fireworks or alcohol
Eligibility
To apply for the Platinum Jubilee Community Fund, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be an established group which has an organisation who have their own bank account, schools, care homes and housing plus/supported living accommodation, located within South Tyneside
- for longer term projects, you must be able to demonstrate how the project supports at least one community priority
- all projects must demonstrate a clear link to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and actively benefit South Tyneside residents, promoting community wellbeing and access for all*
- all community events must in some way, acknowledge South Tyneside Council's contribution
*Exclusions may apply, for example in an application to support a closed event such as within a care home for its residents.
