Parliamentary constituencies in England are being reviewed, and you can have your say on the proposed changes.

The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is the independent organisation which is responsible for reviewing Parliamentary constituency boundaries.

Proposed changes in South Tyneside

Summary of initial proposals

  • Move the Cleadon and East Boldon ward into the South Shields constituency (from the Jarrow constituency)
  • Move three wards from Sunderland (Castle, Redhill and St Anne's) into the Jarrow constituency
  • Remove two Gateshead wards (Pelaw and Heworth, and Wardley and Leam Lane) from the Jarrow constituency
  • Rename the Jarrow constituency to Jarrow and Sunderland West
