This recipe is from Ellie, a School Chef in South Tyneside.
600g minced beef
Half a white onion
4 to 6 large potatoes
Selection of veggies - frozen peas / carrots / sweetcorn / broccoli and cauliflower
Knob of butter
Salt and pepper
Peel and quarter the potatoes, and put on to boil in salted water.
Brown off the mince meat in a pan and drain the fat. Add a pinch of ground pepper and finely chopped onion, and enough boiled kettle water to cover the mince.
To the mince, add a selection of veggies. Hand full of frozen peas, finely diced carrots, sweetcorn, small chopped cauliflower and broccoli, frozen veg is ideal for this. Bring pan to the boil and thicken with gravy granules.
Pour mince into an over proof dish.
Drain and mash the potatoes with a knob of butter, fork over the mince, sprinkle with cheese and bake in the middle of the oven on 175 deg C until golden brown.
