Route2Work - Specialised learning programme

Route2Work aims to help young people aged 16 to 24 (who have an Education and Health Care Plan) build confidence and skills.

About Route2Work

Route2Work is for young people aged 16 to 24 who have an Education and Health Care Plan.

It aims to help them build confidence and skills through a mixture of:

  • work placements
  • functional skills
  • vocational learning

It offers a personalised programme designed around the learner to:

  • help them achieve their future goals
  • provide the strong foundations that will benefit them as they prepare for working life and independent living

The programme runs over an academic year - from September through to July.

Learners attend 4 days a week, 9.30am to 3.30pm.

One to one support

Route2Work provides a safe and friendly environment at Jarrow Hall.

Students are supported by a professional and trusted team of staff who help students make personal and academic progress.

Each young person will be allocated a qualified support worker who will provide one to one support both in the classroom and on placement.

Learners will work towards and achieve:

  • animal care
  • horticulture
  • work placements
  • functional skills
  • enrichment activities
  • personal social development

How to apply

Before you apply, taster sessions will be organised for you to visit the college and get a feel for the course.

Groundwork will then work with you to develop an individual transition programme with you before the induction to make sure you are supported into enrolment.
