Overview of the proposal

The proposal includes:

  • Removing some no waiting restrictions and no loading restrictions on:
    • Blyton Avenue, South Shields
    • Wenlock Road, South Shields
    • Edhill Avenue, South Shields
  • Adding some no waiting and no loading restrictions on:
    • Blyton Avenue, South Shields
    • Wenlock Road, South Shields
    • Edhill Avenue, South Shields
    • Simonside Hall, South Shields
  • Altering the school entrance markings for Lord Blyton Primary School on Blyton Avenue, South Shields

South Tyneside Council (Blyton Avenue/Wenlock Road, South Shields) Order 2020

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be to Revoke :

  • No Waiting At Any Time on :
    • Blyton Avenue both sides from its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 10 metres

    • Wenlock Road west side from its junction with Newcastle Road in a southerly direction for 106 metres

  • No Waiting and No Loading Mon-Fri 8am-5pm on:
    • Blyton Avenue, north side:

      • from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 19 metres;

      • from a point 71 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for 34 metres;

      • from a point 147 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road to its junction with Simonside Hall

      • Blyton Avenue south side:

      • from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road to a point 12 metres west of its junction with Edhill Avenue;

      • from a point 9 metres east of its junction with Simonside Hall in an easterly direction for a distance of 19 metres

    • Edhill Avenue west side:

      • from junction with Blyton Avenue in a southerly direction for a distance of 10 metres

    • Edhill Avenue east side:

      • from junction with Blyton Avenue in a southerly direction for a distance of 93 metres

 

  • No Waiting and No Loading Mon-Fri 8am-9.30am & 3pm-4pm on:
    • Blyton Avenue south side

       
      • from a point 15 metres southwest of its junction with the south west kerb line of Edhill Avenue for a distance of 103 metres in a south westerly direction                                                                                                                                                                             

  • No Loading/Unloading at any time  on:

    • Blyton Avenue both sides

      • from its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 10 metres

         

         

  • School Entrance Marking Mon - Fri  8am-5pm on:   

    • Blyton Avenue - Lord Blyton Primary School north side

      • from a point 29 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 42 metres 

      • from a point 105 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 42 metres

         

The Order will Introduce:

  • No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on:
    • Blyton Avenue north side

      • from its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 31 metres;

      • from its junction with Simonside Hall in an easterly direction for a distance of 15 metres 

      • Blyton Avenue south side

      • from its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 105 metres;

      • from its junction with Simonside Hall in an easterly direction for a distance of 15 metres

    • Edhill Avenue both sides

      • from its junction with Blyton Avenue in a southerly direction for a distance of 10 metres

    • Simonside Hall east side

      • from a point 5 metres north of its junction with Blyton Avenue in a southerly direction to a point 5 metres south of its junction with Blyton Avenue

 

  • No Waiting At Any Time on:
  • Wenlock Road east side

    • from its junction with Fenwick Avenue in a southerly direction for a distance of 15 metres

    • and west side from its junction with Newcastle Road in a southerly direction for 190 metres

  • Blyton Avenue north side

    • from a point 68.56 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 34 metres

  • No Waiting and No Loading Mon - Fri 8am-5pm on:
    • Edhill Avenue east side

      • from a point 10 metres south of its junction with Blyton Avenue in a southerly direction for a distance of 83 metres             

  • No Loading at any time on

    • Wenlock Road both sides

      • from its junction with Newcastle Road in a southerly direction for a distance of 16 metres

  • School Entrance Marking Mon - Fri 8am-5pm on:  

    • Blyton Avenue - Lord Blyton Primary School north side

      • from a point 31 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 37.56 metres

      • and both sides

        • from a point 73.5 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 43.56 metres

        • from a point 117 metres west of its junction with Wenlock Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 43.56 metres

           

Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during the hours of 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall at the address below. If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council's Legal Services Department (FAO Lynne Sloan ref LS/16254) at the address below or by email to the address above by 2 November 2020. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
