Dated: 17 September 2020

South Tyneside Council, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police and having notified the Secretary of State in writing, proposes under Sections 90A and 90C of the Highways Act 1980 and the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 to undertake the following:

The Council also proposes to install traffic calming (all being road humps within the meaning of the Highways Act 1980) consisting of road humps on Butchers Bridge Rd, Jarrow.

The proposed road humps will consist of a raised surface 75mm above the existing carriageway. The proposed locations are as follows in the below schedule 1:

Schedule 1 - Road Humps (3.7m in length and kerb to kerb in width)

Butchers Bridge Road - Outside number 3 and 5 Butchers Bridge Road

Butchers Bridge Road - Outside number 1 and 3 Bede Burn View

Butchers Bridge Road - 90 metres east of its junction with Bede Burn View

Butchers Bridge Road - 160 metres east of its junction with Bede Burn View

Butchers Bridge Road - 45 metres west of its junction with Springwell Road

Details of these proposals may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Council's Legal Services Section at the address below.
