South Tyneside Council (Reed Street Area, South Shields 20mph) Order 2020

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph along the entire lengths of road in:

  • Alice Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Bertram Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Dacre Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (East Back) Dacre Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (West Back) Dacre Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Dean Road, South Shields from a point with the junction of South Frederick Street and John Williamson Street 20 metres south and 29 metres east and from its junction with Barnes Road in a southerly direction for 315 metres to the junction of the A194/West Way roundabout
  • North West back of 212-226 Dean Road, South Shields
  • (East Back) Dean Road, South Shields from the rear of No 207 Dean Road in a southerly direction for its entire length to the rear of No. 265 Dean Road
  • Dean Terrace, South Shields for its entire length
  • (North Back) Dean Terrace, South Shields from rear of No. 1 Dean Terrace to rear of No. 21/22 Dean Terrace
  • Eglesfield Road, South Shields for its entire length
  • (East Back) Eglesfield Road, South Shields for its entire length
  • Gilbert Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Johnson Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (South Back) Johnson Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • East side Johnson Street, South Shields from No. 27 in a southerly direction for a distance of 85 metres
  • John Williamson Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (East Back) John Williamson Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (West Back) John Williamson Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Malvern Street, South Shields, for its entire length
  • (South Back) Malvern Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Marshall Wallis Road, South Shields for its entire length
  • (East Back) Marshall Wallis Road, South Shields for its entire length
  • (West Back) Marshall Wallis Road, South Shields for its entire length
  • Palmerston Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • Reed Street, South Shields, front of 57 Reed Street to the side of 14 Beaufront Terrace and from the junction of Dacre Street in a westerly direction for a distance of 175 metres
  • South Frederick Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • (West Back) South Frederick Street, South Shields for its entire length
  • St Judes Terrace, South Shields for its entire length
  • (North Back) of 9-16 St Judes Terrace, South Shields
  • Temple Street, South Shields, for its entire length
  • (South Back) Temple Street, South Shields from its junction with South Frederick Street to the junction of John Williamson Street
  • Wharfedale Drive, South Shields, for its entire length

Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields NE33 2RL.
