Overview of the proposal

The proposal includes:

  • Removing a loading bay and limited waiting restriction on Ocean Road
  • Adding a limited waiting restriction on Ocean Road
  • Adding a Disabled Parking Bay on Ocean Road
  • Adding a Loading Bay on Ocean Road

South Tyneside Council (Ocean Road, South Shields) Order 2020

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be to revoke:

  1. Loading Bay any day 4am - 8pm on Ocean Road, north side from a point 50 metres east of its junction with Anderson Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction 
  2. Limited Waiting 2 hours no return in 4 hours any day 4am-8pm on Ocean Road north side from a point 63 metres east of its junction with Anderson Street for a distance of 24 metres in an easterly direction.

The Order will introduce on Ocean Road north side:

  1. Limited Waiting 3 hours, no return within 2 hours Monday to Saturday 8am-6pm on Ocean Road north side from a point 16 metres west of its junction with the western kerb line of Baring Street for a distance of 31 metres in a westerly direction
  2. Disabled Bay 3 hours no return in 4 hours at any time on any day on Ocean Road north side from a point 47 metres west of its junction with the western kerb line of Baring Street for a distance of 12 metres in a westerly direction and
  3. Loading Bay Monday to Saturday 9am -3pm on Ocean Road north side from a point 59 metres west of its junction with the western kerb line of Baring Street for a distance of 15 metres in a westerly direction.

Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall at the address below.
