Winterbottom

This exhibition examines the life and times of Dr Thomas Masterman Winterbottom.

Dr Winterbottom contributed greatly to the development of South Shields and Westoe in the late 18c and 19c, and contributed to medical and ethnographical research, especially in West Africa, which still has resonance today. 

In partnership with the Workers' Educational Association (WEA).
