About this course
The Primary Schools Music Festival has become an annual event in South Tyneside. It is a forum for schools to showcase their singing and musical talent!
Participants will be made familiar with the music for this school year's Junior and Infants Festivals to be held at the Customs' House, South Shields from Monday to Thursday, March 23rd - 26th 2020 (and possibly Friday 27th, if enough demand).
The theme of this year's Festival is yet to be decided. The infants collective show may be the very popular Humpty Dumpty. Our musical director Andrew Richardson is presently working on a number of ideas for juniors with his co-writer Anthony (who collaborated with writing last year's two shows). The theme and both collective items will be finalised in time for the interest meeting on Wednesday November 20th. What is certain is that the musical productions will give children the usual experience of music, percussion, dance and drama.
The format of the Festival allows each school to perform individually, presenting songs / music in keeping with the theme. The interest meeting on November 20th will explain everything. Participants will receive music materials, digital copies of songs and hear arrangements for this year's Festival. I will keep in touch with schools beforehand with any further news about theme / collective pieces.
It should be noted that the Festival is limited to 5 schools per night (there are usually 3 Junior & 3 Infant performances). Schools wishing to take part in this year's Festival should send a representative to the interest meeting on November 20th (any problems with this - please email: firstname.lastname@example.org .
Expected Impact on School:
The chance for schools to perform challenging choral work in a theatrical setting. An opportunity for teachers to gain valuable CPD in delivering Primary music / singing and organising a school choir.
Target Group: Infant, Junior & Primary Schools wishing to take part in this Year's Festival
