Visit South Tyneside Website Undergone Makeover

South Tyneside Council has launched a newly designed website showcasing all the fantastic things you can do in the borough.

Users of the Visit South Tyneside website can expect to find advice on where to stay, where to eat and drink and what to do and see in this buzzing part of the North East. There is also a 'what's on' section which highlights all the fantastic events that will be taking place across South Tyneside.

South Tyneside continues to offer a jam packed schedule of fascinating exhibitions, cultural attractions and popular events while surrounded by long stretches of stunning coastline, making it an extremely popular tourist destination.

Councillor Alan Kerr, Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said: "We are delighted to launch a newly designed website for Visit South Tyneside which aims to inspire visitors on how best to spend their time in the borough.

"Around 6.3 million people visit South Tyneside each year with tourism contributing approximately £306m to our local economy. The South Shields 365 regeneration masterplan is set to increase the number of visitors to the borough even further making it even more important to have useful visitor information at the click of a button."

The first phase of the South Shields 365 regeneration masterplan saw the opening of The Word which attracts 450,000 visitors a year to the town centre. Following that was the opening of the £21m Interchange which provides first class public transport facilities and improved connectivity for visitors to and from the region. Finally, Phase Three will provide an enhanced retail, leisure and housing offer to help create a vibrant town centre experience during both the day and night.

With this in mind, the new website has been designed as a useful tool to help visitors, and locals alike, successfully plan a trip to our area.
