South Tyneside residents are being reminded that next week is the last week of the Summer Holiday Clubs where children can enjoy free activities and a lunch.
South Tyneside Council has laid on activities and a free meal for children for three days over the middle four weeks of the school summer holidays to ease the pressure on struggling families. Next week is the last week of the scheme with the clubs running between Tuesday 20 August and Thursday 22 August.
The clubs are open to South Tyneside children up to the age of 16 at the following venues: Millennium PHAB Club, Hedworthfield Community Association, Riverside Children's Centre, Biddick Hall and Whiteleas Children's Centre, Marine Park Children's Centre, Horsley Hill Children's Centre, Boldon Children's Centre, Simonside Climbing Wall and Whitburn Parish Church Hall.
A range of children's entertainment is on offer at children's centres across the Borough which are suitable for children under the age of ten. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Councillor Moira Smith, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "We know the long summer holidays can be a difficult time for families which is why we wanted to offer children a healthy meal We have received very positive feedback to this scheme so I do hope people will come along again next week."
