  • Group moderation activities: 'Word Reading', 'Comprehension' and 'Writing' (revised ELG's) and 'Self-regulation' (PSED revised ELG)
  • Agreement trials: Using case study material
  • Agreement trials: Using practitioner 'evidence' from own setting
  • Reference to revised exemplification materials

Expected Impact on School/Setting:

  • Practitioners develop familiarity with changes to EYFSP assessment and related exemplification materials
  • Dialogue with practitioners from a range of settings provides opportunities for practitioners to reflect on their systems for supporting accurate assessment
  • Reference to exemplification materials helps to develop practitioner understanding of the Early Learning Goals

Target Group:

  • Reception class practitioners responsible for reporting EYFS profile outcomes

  • Nursery and Year 1 teachers interested in developing their understanding of EYFS assessment


NB: Practitioners are asked to bring the following:

  • 'Evidence' to support assessments of two children within the class (Literacy and PSED)
  • A copy of the 2020 EYFSP Handbook
  • Exemplification materials: Literacy (Word Reading, Comprehension & Writing)
