About this course

Content:

  • Theoretical and practical implications of embedding a cohesive, skills-based approach to Literacy readiness, speech and language support and closing gaps
  • Familiarity with the materials associated with the Launch Pad approach
  • Discussion of the key developmental strands that act as preconditions for Literacy acquisitions and create solid foundations for communication, social development and learning

NB: Launch Pad for Literacy is an approach devised by teacher Kirstie Page who was a speech and language therapist. It is an approach that can be used with all children, cohorts and schools but it is particularly relevant for those with higher levels of skills gaps resulting from speech, language and other developmental needs.

Expected Impact on School/Setting:

  • Practitioners will be familiar with the Launch Pad approach and gain confidence in using this in their practice
  • Practical ideas for narrowing skills gaps resulting from speech, language and other developmental needs (including EAL)

Please note:

Those attending will need to bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be available

Target Group: Practitioners leading and working within Early Years', or within KS1 where speech, language, phonic or literacy acquisition needs remain / SENDCo's
