The work being carried out to improve the health and wellbeing of South Tyneside residents will be detailed at the next meeting of the East Shields and Whitburn Community Area Forum.
Members will receive a presentation about the latest issue of quarterly newsletter, Healthier Times, which is produced by the council's Public Health Team.
This issue, the third, features articles about the National Diabetes Prevention Programme, NHS screening programmes, the Sexual Health Outreach Service and Best Start in Life campaigns.
The electronic newsletter also provides information about Public Health events as well as signposting people to useful advice and resources.
Members will also be given an update on flood mitigation, including how to use plants to reduce the risk of surface water flooding.
Chair of the CAF, Cllr Alex Donaldson, said: "There are some really interesting items on the agenda for next week's meeting.
"I'm particularly interested in seeing the presentation on flooding, which will show people how they can create a 'yarden' to help minimise the risk of flooding.
"I'd encourage local people to come along and find out more."
The CAF meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday 30 May at St Gregory's Church Hall, off Borough Road, South Shields.
