Rock band the Lightning Seeds, known for hit songs such as Pure, Lucky You and Sugar Coated Iceberg, will headlining the 2nd of our free 4 concerts at South Shields' Bents Park on Sunday 21 July.

Initially formed as a solo project by lead singer, Ian Broudie, the Lightning Seeds expanded into a band after the success of the album Jollification and went on to produce a number of hit records including the platinum album, Dizzy Heights.

Ian Broudie is also well known for producing and performing the popular single Three Lions with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, which was released to mark England hosting the 1996 European Championships and sold more than one million copies, hitting the number one spot three times.

Joining them is Multi-Platinum dance act Phats and Small. They are best known for hit songs including Turnaround, Feel Good, Tonite and This Time Around and recent releases have secured top three positions on Beatport's chart - with their music amassing more than 20 million streams on Spotify and 25 million views on Youtube. The pair have performed at many of the world's most famous clubs, from Frankfurt's Cocoon to London's Ministry of Sound, and they are currently in the process of creating their fourth studio album. The dance act return to the festival by popular demand after their performance at last year's concert series prompted numerous requests to bring them back.

Support is from the Understudies, a fantastic local band featuring four of South Tyneside's finest musicians. We're delighted to welcome them back on the Bents Park stage after a great set back in 2017 when they supported Busted.

Gates open approx. 12 noon for Priority Plus ticket holders and approx. 12.45pm for free entry for which no tickets are required.
