The history of a village community will be celebrated when South Tyneside's Wednesday Heritage Club meets this month.
The Club is welcoming back local historian and accomplished story teller Jean Stokes who had previously presented a fascinating insight into the life and work of Robert Blair, who did so much to promote the excavations at The Roman Fort.
In 2017, Jean published 'Harton Village 1900' - a well-researched look back at the people and the houses in the area. On Wednesday 10 April, she will be giving a talk about four buildings which have played a significant role in the history of Harton Village and its residents.
The talk is taking place at 2pm, in The Word, National Centre for the Written Word, in South Shields Market Place.
Tickets for the talk cost £1.50 each and are available from The Word on (0191) 427 1818.
The Wednesday Heritage Club continues to meet on the second Wednesday of the month with talks on a variety of topics of local and regional interest.
