Easy read guide and videos for voters with a learning disability

Voting in a polling station

In the videos below, Harry and Charlotte from Mencap talk about their experiences of voting in a polling station and how they think this can be improved for people with a learning disability.

Easy read guides

Mencap has created easy read guides for people with learning disabilities explaining how to register to vote and voting in an election:

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), one of the UK's leading sight loss charities have produced a pocket guide to assist visually impaired voters.

Learning Disability England (LDE) has published a local elections resources hub which provides useful resources to support voters with learning disabilities to engage in this year's May 2021 local elections.

The hub includes information about the right to vote and accessibility as well as events, easy read guides, videos, and a survey to gather insights into why people do not vote.

Please visit Learning Disability England for more information.

You can access  Learning Disability England resources to support voters for resources and news about the Local Government Elections 2021.
