There's only one week to go until South Tyneside stages a dazzling display of lights, music and festive entertainment for visitors to the Borough.
Visitors to South Shields are encouraged to line the route along Ocean Road to Haven Point to see the Three Wise Men make their way towards the town's seafront as part of the Borough's spectacular Camel Parade taking place next Friday(7 December).
The parade, which starts at 5pm, will feature fabulous stilt walkers in festive costumes and illuminated characters as well as the high impact drumming group Spark! with their energetic and unique choreographed performances all set to stunning lighting effects.
Visitors will then be treated to an array of family-friendly entertainment and live music, including festive classics and party favourites from the talented North East performer Jenn Cherene. By this time, the Three Wise Men and camels will have continued on with their important journey, leaving spectators to enjoy a fabulous fireworks finale.
Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with special responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: "The Camel Parade is returning for the fifth year running. It is always extremely popular and one of the highlights of our festive celebrations.
"The event has a wonderful atmosphere and attracts thousands of people to South Shields. Once again, it promises to be an evening of seasonal entertainment and live music with sensational festive fireworks drawing the evening to a close.
"We would encourage visitors to wrap up warm and dress appropriately for the weather to join in the festivities on Friday."
South Tyneside's Christmas Wonderland 2018 programme is being delivered by South Tyneside Council in partnership with BBC Newcastle and with support from Colmans Seafood Temple.
