Safeguarding in the Spotlight

Multi-agency work to keep children and adults safe in South Tyneside will be up for discussion when a council committee meets next Tuesday (13 November).

The Overview and Scrutiny Co-ordinating and Call-In Committee will receive an update from the Children and Adults Safeguarding Boards about the work of the multi-agency partnerships in overseeing arrangements to keep children and adults at risk of abuse and/or neglect safe in South Tyneside.

Both boards will present their annual 2017-18 reports, which reflect on the year's achievements, priorities as well as identify areas of improvement.

Councillor Rob Dix, Committee Chairman, said: "Safeguarding those who may be at risk is one of the Council's most important duties.

"Through the safeguarding boards we take a partnership approach to providing our children and adults with the best possible outcomes, with targeted protection, care and support for those who are in the greatest need.

"We look forward to hearing more about work in this area."

The next meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Co-ordinating and Call-In Committee will take place on Tuesday 13 November, at 10am, at South Shields Town Hall.
