Residents can now secure their garden waste collections for next year as registration opens for the season resuming in the spring.
South Tyneside Council's fortnightly Garden Waste Collection Service for 2019 will run from April to November.
However, residents are reminded that those who would like to receive the service next year need to ensure they are registered in time to receive all of the collections.
Residents are encouraged to renew their subscription, or register for the service, by 31 January to guarantee they receive their packs - containing their bin stickers, collection dates and terms and conditions - by 11 March ahead of collections beginning in April.
The cost of the 2019 Garden Waste Collection Service is £32 per green waste bin.
Councillor Nancy Maxwell, Lead Member for Area Management and Community Safety, said: "We hope that residents will continue to take advantage of the Garden Waste Collection Service.
"It offers people a hassle-free collection service while allowing them to do their bit for the environment. Through this service they can recycle a range of garden materials, including hedge trimmings, leaves, twigs, cut flowers, house plants and weeds.
"It is important to note that green waste bins can be shared between neighbours which will help to reduce the cost to individual households. This option may be particularly useful for those who have small gardens.
"Residents can sign up online. It's really quick and easy to do."
Those who do not wish to subscribe to the green waste collection service are reminded that low cost composting bins are available from the Council. For more details about home composting, call 0845 130 6090or visit www.getcomposting.com
Green waste can also be taken to South Tyneside's Recycling Village at Middlefields Industrial Estate in South Shields. Alternatively residents can book a bulky waste collection, though fees apply.
