Members of the Riverside Community Area Forum will have the opportunity to ask questions about upcoming disruption to the Metro system as part of construction of the new transport interchange in South Shields.
Nexus Customer Services Director Huw Lewis will be at the forum's next meeting to discuss travel arrangements while the work, which includes new track and signalling infrastructure, is ongoing.
The Metro line between South Shields and Chichester is to close for five weeks as part of the £21m development.
The major line closure will start from Monday 1 October and will run until Saturday 3 November. During this time a frequent replacement bus service will be provided. Metro services will continue to operate as usual from Chichester towards Newcastle and Sunderland.
From Sunday 4 November Metro trains will be unable to call at platform 2 at Chichester until the interchange works are completed in August 2019. The closure of this platform is expected to add 10-15 minutes to journey times.
Vice Chair of the Riverside CAF, Cllr Katharine Maxwell, said: "Work on the interchange is progressing and once complete, it will provide a high quality arrival point into the town.
"It is a crucial element of our South Shields 35 regeneration masterplan.
"As part of its construction, Nexus need to carry out some track and signalling upgrades, which will involve some disruption for passengers.
"We're pleased to welcome a representative from Nexus to our next meeting, who will talk us through alternative arrangements and will be able to answer any questions."
The next meeting of the Riverside CAF will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 18 at South Shields Town Hall.
