Members of South Tyneside Council's Place Select Committee will receive an update about the South Shields's 365 regeneration plan when they meet next Tuesday (25 July).
Committee members will receive a presentation about the scheme's progress so far including the ongoing development of South Shields Transport Interchange as well as the town's retail and leisure offer.
Councillor Audrey Mcmillan, Committee Chair, said: "Phase One of South Shields' 365 regeneration scheme is now complete. The Word, is proving really successful, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors into the town centre and now we are looking forward to pressing ahead with the next stages which will complete the town's journey of transformation.
"The regeneration of South Shields is crucial in helping to revitalise the town centre to boost tourism, increase support for local businesses and provide a better quality of life for both residents and visitors. We look forward to hearing more about how the scheme's latest developments."
The committee will also hear more about Jarrow Hub and progress on the borough's community association asset transfer programme. The Community Association Asset Transfer programme sees Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) lease the borough's community association buildings from the Council for community use.
