South Tyneside's Young People's Parliament (STYPP)
Hello from the Young People's Parliament
"Hello, we are South Tyneside Young People’s Parliament. Our members are from different areas of the Borough, with age range from 13-19 years old. We meet on a Wednesday, 6-8pm at MarketPlace (25-27 Market Place, South Shields), to discuss issues that affect young people living in South Tyneside and come up with ways to help.
"We run a campaign every year and we have regular fun activities, and over the past few years we’ve been lucky to take part in some amazing experiences like trips to Germany and France, getting muddy on outdoor residentials, going to London to debate in the House of Commons, stuffing our faces at restaurants, this and lots, lots more!
"We run an annual campaign, recent topics have included: LGBT+, Body Image and we’re currently working on ‘mental health and young people’. Our events are hosted by young people from STYPP and are presented in fun and interactive ways. Our campaign events help us to reach young people from right across the borough through a series of events involving all secondary schools. Involving a bigger group of young people provides the information we need to represent young people’s views from across South Tyneside, and to influence service providers and make change happen!
"If you live in South Tyneside, aged 13-19 years, and interested in making your voice count, we’d love to hear from you. Come on, get involved and have your voice heard!"
