Heritage Open Days return to South Tyneside from Friday 11 - Sunday 20 September 2020.
Heritage Open Days is a FREE national event which celebrates fantastic architecture and culture by offering access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge admission.
Unfortunately the programme isn't as extensive for 2020 as it normally is, however there are a number of venues and activities you can still enjoy.
Please note the following previously advertised events have been cancelled:
- Whitburn Historical Walk on Sunday 13 & Sunday 20 September
- North East Maritime Trust opening weekend on Friday 18 - Sunday 20 September
As well as the events listed below you can also explore South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade's Watch House on Saturday 12 - Sunday 13 September & Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 September, 10am - 4pm. This Grade II listed building on South Shields Seafront contains an extensive collection of artefacts from the 130+ years of the Brigade operating. Entry is free and booking isn't required. Covid secure measures in place include limiting the number of visitors allowed inside the building at any one time. Face coverings must be worn unless exempt.
