A new grant aimed at improving community safety and crime reduction is now up and running and available to local groups in South Tyneside.
The Safer Communities Grant is a joint initiative between South Tyneside Council's Community Safety and Regeneration Teams. Local groups can apply for grants of up to £1,000 from a total available fund of £20,000.
The Scheme will run for the next three years but the closing date for the first round of grant applications is 20th February 2003.
The Safer Communities Programme offers grants to local people to develop projects aimed at reducing crime and increasing community safety in their area.
Any community and voluntary group requiring funding for a project aimed at fighting crime, combating the fear of crime or helping victims of crime is invited to apply for a grant.
If you have an idea you want to discuss or if you want the 'Safer Communities Grant' application form ring the Regeneration Team on: 424 7595. Apply early to avoid disappointment.
