Exploring Pond Life At Station Burn

Near Brockley Whins Metro Station in South Tyneside, the River Don runs through a fascinating local wildlife area called Station Burn.

Here there are a series of ponds which hold a multitude of wildlife, including frogs, dragonflies, great diving beetles, pond skaters and water boatmen.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the fascinating creatures lurking in these ponds at Station Burn, is invited to take part in a discovery event on Sunday 18th May.

Pond expert Mike Jeffries will be on hand to help identify the abundance of freshwater animals that inhabit this watery world. All equipment will be provided. All ages welcome, though children under 16 years of age should be accompanied by an adult.

Meet: Brockley Whins Metro Station, Station Road.
Time: 1.30pm - 4pm on Sunday 18th May
