Teams Tee Off For Charity
Tiger Woods had better look out when teams of golfers from South Tyneside tee off for a very special charity event.
Golfers and local businesses are being urged to support the charity tournament with proceeds going to the Mayoress's Charities - St Clare's Hospice, South Tyneside Youth Orchestra and South Tyneside Normandy Veterans.
Places are still available for teams of four to play a round of golf, have a meal and enjoy evening entertainment at Beamish Park Golf Club on Friday 11th July.
Organiser Barry Lowther is also asking local companies to support this annual event by sponsoring a hole for £100. He says: "This really will be an excellent tournament and hopefully will once again raise a good deal for the charities. Over the year's this fun event has raised thousands of pounds for local good causes and I am certain that even more people will want to support the fund raising for St Clare's Hospice."
The cost is £100 for four people including meals and entertainment at the Club. All entries and entry fees should be sent to organiser Barry Lowther at Horsley Hill Housing Office, 1-9 Horsley Hill Square, South Shields, NE34 7HE, Tel: 497 4000. Cheques are payable to the "Mayoress's Charity".
The Mayoress of South Tyneside, Councillor Moira Smith says: "This is such a great event for everyone who takes part - players, sponsors and guests. It was very successful last year and everyone had a wonderful time. Let's hope the charities receive a boost to their funds and the players from South Tyneside do us proud."
