Boost For Gardeners

Green-fingered gardeners in Whitburn can give their blooms a welcome boost if they go along to Highcroft Allotments on Saturday (28th June).

As part of their bid for the coveted Britain in Bloom contest members of the Whitburn committee will be giving away free bags of recycled compost. Recycling company Premier Waste Management has supplied the Council with 50 bags to be given away one per person on a first come - first served basis.

On Saturday at 10am the Committee Chairman, Councillor Peter Boyack will help hand out the compost to the gardeners. He says: "Once again Whitburn is bidding for national recognition in the Britain in Bloom contest. The judges will be visiting us in early August and I'm confident they will be impressed by all the hard work that goes into making our flowers, lawns and gardens look to good."
