Excellent Results For Bengali Students

Students in the ethnic community have today been praised for achieving excellent results in their GCSE Bengali exams. The nine women aged from 15 to 29 were awarded six A* passes and three A passes. The course is run by the Council's Adult Education Department every Sunday at the Apna Ghar Centre in South Shields.

Councillor Ron Reynolds, Lead Member for Lifelong Learning and Leisure, says: "This is continuing the success of the Bengali course. These are wonderful results achieved by the students who worked extremely hard and had excellent tuition from their tutor Mrs Shamim Ara Ali."

The successful students are: Khadiza Aktar; Jahanara Choudhury; Rashida Bakth; Aisha Begum; Foyzun-Nahar Choudhury; Shajna Khanom; Tanjina Rahman; Salah Uddin and Halima Ali.

A new course will be starting in September and anyone interested should contact Sandra Taylor on 427 4526.
