People living in Hebburn will get a chance next week to have their say about the future regeneration of the Town Centre and the Riverside.
Consultants selected by South Tyneside Council will be presenting the first stage of their strategy for transforming Hebburn Town Centre and the Riverside at a meeting of Hebburn Community Area Forum on Tuesday (23rd September) in Hartleyburn Community Centre at 4pm.
Community Area Forum Chairman, Councillor Nancy Maxwell says: "These are major issues for Hebburn and it is important that local people have the opportunity to listen to the consultants, see their presentations and then give their own views. These ideas are crucial to the transformation of Hebburn so I hope we will have a really positive debate and that the consultants leave us with plenty of good suggestions about what the residents of Hebburn would like to see achieved as part of the transformation of South Tyneside."
The Deputy Chairman, Councillor Alan Kerr adds: "We are all aware of the need to revitalise the Town Centre and the Riverside and it is an absolute must that we have community involvement if it is to be a success. I'd like to see as many people as possible getting really involved in this - and what better way to start than coming along to this meeting."
The Council has appointed consultants Ironside Farrar to produce the strategy and framework for revitalising the Town Centre and Gillespies for the Riverside. They have been asked to produce draft plans for the Council to consider as part of its commitment to transforming South Tyneside.
Councillor Maxwell adds: "It is my firm belief that we must do all we can to bring about the transformation of our Town Centre and the Riverside because they have the potential to contribute to the overall enhancement of the area as an attraction forming part of the transformational agenda for not just Hebburn, but for the whole of South Tyneside."
The meeting will take place next week on Tuesday 23rd September in Hartleyburn Community Centre, Crawley Avenue, Hebburn at 4pm.
