Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer walk leader can attend a special open day next week.
The open day is to be held on Monday 22nd April at Temple Park Leisure Centre, South Shields between ,b>1.00pm and 3.00pm.
The walking project is part of the 'Walking your Way to Health' project in South Tyneside.
The Project hopes to recruit 24 volunteers to lead a number of regular excursions throughout the Borough. Each volunteer will be responsible for between 10 and 20 people. Free training in First Aid and Walker Leadership will be available together with free equipment.
Project Co-ordinator Andrew Watts said: "We are seeking local people of all ages and from all walks of life to volunteer as Leaders. The project is a wonderful initiative for South Tyneside and is well worth supporting."
