Local residents living in the Westoe area of South Shields have given a warm welcome to their new Community Beat Officer, PC Alan Davison.
Many residents are delighted by this visible police presence and have spoken to PC Davison about his new role, together with issues they would like to see him involved in.
Westoe Ward Councillor Ron Reynolds says people in the area are delighted to have a Community Beat Officer walking the streets. He says: "This is a great step forward in the campaign to cut crime and improve community safety. The presence of a police officer walking his beat is very reassuring to local residents and I am confident it will lead to a reduction in vandalism, graffiti and other anti-social behaviour. The residents and the Ward Councillors will be working very closely with PC Davison and I am sure this will make a difference to everyone."
