South Tyneside Council has opened a new recycling site in South Shields at The Marsden Inn car park in Marsden Lane.
Local residents can take their newspapers and magazines to the new paper bank where they will be collected for recycling. The Council is also planning to install a bottle bank on the site for glass bottles and jars.
This latest site brings the number of recycling sites in South Tyneside to 29 with more than 100 containers for paper, glass, textiles and cans. Residents can also take waste to the civic amenity site at Middlefields Depot in South Shields where there are extra containers for recycling car batteries, waste oils, wood, garden waste, scrap metal and rubble.
