A special Jubilee brass band concert is being held on Sunday (2nd June) to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and herald the start of the summer festival organised by South Tyneside Council.
Boldon Brass Band will be performing their music at a free afternoon concert in the wonderful open-air setting of the South Shields Amphitheatre.
The Mayor, Councillor Joan Jackson will formally open the event, which starts at 2pm, and also coincides with BBC Music Live celebrations. She says: "I am expecting a wonderful afternoon of excellent music by Boldon Brass Band. I hope the weather will be decent and as many people as possible come along to enjoy the performance, the atmosphere and the setting."
As part of the free summer family festival brass band concerts will take place every Sunday afternoon in the Amphitheatre throughout June, July and August.
The fun continues on Bank Holiday Monday (3rd June) when the Baghdaddies launch the Amphitheatre free Live Music season at 7.30pm.
