The Health and Wellbeing Board works in partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of our children, adults and families and reduce current health inequalities, to help people live longer and healthier lives. At a time of significant change, the Board will work together to drive forward the new health and wellbeing agenda to secure improved outcomes for our local population.
The Health and Wellbeing Board have agreed their strategy for improving health and wellbeing across the borough, which focuses on 4 key areas:
· Reducing inequalities through prevention and early identification of risk
· Tackling youth unemployment
· Reducing social isolation in older people
· Improving the quality, integration and efficiency of local services
The Health and Wellbeing Board is chaired by Cllr Iain Malcolm, Leader of South Tyneside Council. Mike Conlon, Director Children's Services, South Tyneside Council is the lead officer for the Board, and operational support is provided by Amanda Healy, Director of Public Health.
