Safeguarding Partnership Board

The Children and Families Board is a partnership of agencies who work with children, young people and their families in South Tyneside.  The Children & Families and Child Poverty Strategy sets out the key priorities for the Board, which are:

  • Safer, stronger families in healthier communities
  • Learning and learners for the 21st century
  • Enterprising people in enterprising places

The Board meets quarterly to monitor progress on these areas and review particular areas of work in more detail with regular contributions from children and young people.

The Board has close links to the independent Local Safeguarding Children Board which holds partners to account for their safeguarding services - South Tyneside Safeguarding Children Board. We have recently welcomed new Chair of the LSCB, Sir Paul Ennals and we hold joint meetings for the external chairs to discuss cross cutting issues, training and support from the Local Authority and multi-agency partners.

The Children and Families Board is chaired by Cllr Joan Atkinson, Lead Member Children, Young People and Families.
