Mayor's Charity

Create your own Christmas e-card

Help local charities and the environment by making a donation to the Mayor's Charity instead of sending cards this Christmas.

Once you've donated you will be able to send your friends, family and colleagues an e-card to let them know you have donated and send your best wishes.

This year the Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Olive Punchion, is supporting the British Heart Foundation South Tyneside and CLIC Sargent.

The Mayor of South Tyneside is Councillor Olive Punchion who is joined in her civic duties by the Mayoress, Mrs Mary French.

This is Councillor Punchion's second time in the Mayor's office as the former Mayoress of South Tyneside in 2012.

Born and bred in South Shields, she worked at the former Plessey factory, the international electronics, defence and Telecommunications Company, in South Shields where she met Mrs French.

Now retired, Councillor Punchion represents the Biddick and All Saints Ward and is a governor for Biddick Hall Infants' School.

Originally from South Shields, Mrs French as a teenager lived in Middlesbrough but moved back to South Tyneside where she has lived and worked ever since.

After meeting Councillor Punchion at the Plessey factory the pair have stayed in touch and become very good friends.

This year, the Mayor's chosen charities are:

  • British Heart Foundation South Tyneside
  • CLIC Sargent
