National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service

Deaf CAMHS provides a specialist mental health service for deaf children with a range of emotional, behavioural and developmental problems.

The service works with children aged the age of 18 who are deaf. The service also works with hearing children who have Deaf parents.

All communication modes are valued by the team.

The team consists of Deaf and hearing staff including English/BSL interpreters.

The service is flexible about where meetings and sessions take place, so distance from a centre should not be an issue.

The North East service is based in Benton House covering the North East although appointments are often carried out at home or in the child/young person's school/college, or at healthcare centre/G.P surgery's local to the child/young persons home.

Referrals are accepted from any professional working with the family.

This can include Heath, Education or Social Care professionals.
