Menu and price for primary and special schools

The current menu is available in primary and special schools from September 2018 to July 2019.

Please note, schools may make changes to their menu e.g. where the menu is linked to the curriculum.

There are three menus that rotate on a weekly basis.

Week one starts at the beginning of each new term and after each school holiday, followed by week two, week three, and then returning to week one.

Primary school meal prices

A top quality, fresh and nutritious 2 course meal and drink costs £2.10 per day.

Dinner money is collected weekly in schools on a Monday. Parents / carers can also pay by cheque, made payable to South Tyneside Council.

On the menu everyday

Food that is available everyday includes: 

  • Fresh sandwiches and wraps
  • Crispy jacket potatoes with toppings
  • Salad cart
  • Fresh fruit, yoghurt and cheese with crackers offered as an alternative dessert 
  • Chilled drinking water
  • Fresh bread

Monday (week one)

Mains: 

  • Pasta bolognaise with garlic dough balls
  • BBQ chicken fillet served with golden potato cubes
  • Easy peasy lentil curry with fluffy white rice

Tuesday (week one)

  • Tuna and salmon pasta with crunchy cucumber
  • Quorn burger in a bun with relish and salad

  • Crispy Jacket Potatoes and Toppings and Fresh Sandwiches/Wraps

Desserts:

  • Angel crunch
  • Lemon curd drizzle cake

Wednesday (week one)

Mains: 

  • Savoury minced beef with cheesy cobbler and mash
  • Chicken and mixed pepper burrito with salsa
  • Margherita pizza with assorted salad

Potatoes / rice / pasta / veg: 

  • Chef's Choice of Seasonal Vegetables
  • Salad Cart
  • Crispy Jacket Potatoes and Toppings and Fresh Sandwiches/Wraps

Desserts: 

  • Iced cheery fruit muffin served with a milk drink
  • Golden cornflake cake

Thursday (week one)

Mains: 

  • Chicken curry with brown and white rice
  • Pork mince and baked bean savoury pie with new potatoes
  • Vegetable ravioli served with crusty bread

  • Deli style cheese panini with side salad
  • Quorn dippers served with garlic mayonnaise dip and chips

  • Rice pudding with apple puree

  • Pork and carrot meatballs in spicy tomato sauce with noodles
  • Vegetable fingers with salsa dip & paprika potato wedges

Wednesday (week two)

  • Assorted pizzas served with a selection of salads

  • Crunchy topped macaroni cheese served with salad

  • Vegetable lasagne served with crusty bread and crispy salad

The menu is subject to availability. 

After every school holiday the menu reverts back to week one.
