The Council is working towards a new draft Regulation 18 pre-publication Local Plan following public consultation in 2019 and a review of Spatial Options.
The Local Development Scheme will be updated in due course and will set out a new timetable for the emerging Local Plan.
The South Tyneside Local Development Framework remains in place for decision making, along with national policy and guidance.
Regulation 18 Pre-Publication Draft Local Plan Consultation
A consultation on the Pre-Publication Draft Local Plan took place in 2019.
The draft plan was approved by Cabinet on 7 August 2019, for an 8-week consultation, between August and October 2019.
The Council received 18,898 comments (representations) in response to the consultation.
To make sure that we captured and fully considered all responses, we gave each individual representation a reference number. We then broke down the comments into relevant themes (chapters).
As we received a lot of responses, and many of these raised similar issues, we identified the key issues under each chapter. We then analysed the issue, considered any actions needed and confirmed the Council's response on how each key issue will be considered.
