Your Voice Counts helps people with learning difficulties find out about different services and organisations that can support them.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Your Voice Counts is here to support people with learning disabilities and / or autism in South Tyneside, helping them keep connected and not feel alone during the Coronavirus pandemic.

We are here if you need to chat. We can call you if you are worried or need support to get food or medication.

If you or someone you know would like support from Your Voice Counts, call 0191 478 7472.

  • Allocate a dedicated worker who will remain in contact with a client by phone over the coming weeks and months for a regular chat and to check that they are coping.
  • Help the person make a plan for how to cope in the coming weeks. For example make a plan for how to get food, pay bill and get access to the medication that they need.
  • Problem solve when things go wrong so that people have the things they need. For example making sure food is delivered, support them to access medical advice/support etc.
  • Help people to be connected. They will show people how to use technology to remain in contact with friends and we will be running a regular programme of online activities that will support people with their mental and physical wellbeing.
