Activities - ACTS offers a wide range of exercise and social activities across South Tyneside to help you keep fit and have fun.
Techno Gym Easyline - Visit ACTS' gym and get a free trial of Easyline gym equipment to help you on the path to a healthier lifestyle. Come along Monday - Friday from 9am-3.45pm. Please note, bookings are essential for all inductions. Please contact ACTS directly to arrange a gym induction.
Information, advice and money matters
Information, advice and advocacy - You can take advantage of ACTS' free, confidential and impartial advice. In the past year they have helped over 4000 people to claim over £3 million in additional benefits, grants, income and reduced bills.
Energy advice - ACTS provides tailored advice and support relating to home energy and winter health.
South Tyneside's Advocacy Resource Team - This service is available for older people who may have experienced a significant life event or need support to cope with issues that can arise in later life, which can have a dramatic impact on their day-to-day living.
Integrated Service - ACTS' Integrated Service offers a wide range of support to holistically meet the needs of older people living in South Tyneside. A Single Point of Contact team can book you an appointment to see an Advisor, Support Worker or Handyperson, or they can direct you to the most appropriate person or signpost to other services.
Home support - Most of us want to live independently in our own homes for as long as possible, but as we get older we may need some support and assistance. ACTS provides a wide range of services to help you at home.
Leisure and learning
Digital inclusion - ACTS provides a wide range of courses to teach you the benefits of using modern technology and going online so you can continue to remain independent and stay in your own home for longer.
Local heritage - Our local heritage project: Private Residence to Community Hub - the life and times of a South Shields town house is funded by the Heritage Lottery.
The People's Café is a not-for-profit coffee shop run volunteers and staff who care about the people who visit the café. The People's Café is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm and serves straightforward, healthy and affordable refreshments.
Tyneside and Northumberland Mind is running the People's Café hosted by Café Monteiro within ACTS. Tyneside and Northumberland Mind is an independent, local charitable company operating as part of the Local Mind Network and delivering mental health services across the whole of Tyneside and Northumberland.
